Chippewa National Forest

Chippewa National Forest is home to the largest population of the stately bald eagle, as wells as more than 240 other winged species.

the lost 40

Lost Forty – Wooded preserved called the “Lost 40” due to early surveyors recording the land as a body of water. The land is home to one of the last stands of virgin, “old-growth” Red and White Pine in Minnesota.

Itasca State Park

Itasca State Park, the oldest state park and the “Headwaters of the Mississippi”

Cycling  

The Paul Bunyan Trail is the longest MN bike trail, starting at Lake Bemidji and winding 115 miles south. There are abundant biking trails in our area including Movil Maze and the CCC Trails at Lake Rabideau . Our area also offers access to the highly acclaimed 700 mile Mississippi River Trail.

Golfing 

Bemidji Town and Country Club is home of the Birchmont Open. Other local courses are Blackduck Golf Club, Maple Ridge Golf Course, Greenwood Golf Course, Sandtrap Golf Course and Turtle River Golf Course.

Fishing

In the land of 10,000 Lakes it’s hard not to find a good fishing hole, but this area is particularly well known. Our Manager, Mike Schwersinske can assist you.

 

Other things to check out:

  • Concordia Language Villages – Premiere language and cultural immersion camps featuring 10 different villages, prepares young people for responsible citizenship in a global community.

  • Bemidji Brewery - Bemidji Brewing is a local micro brewery located in downtown Bemidji, MN.  Offering Saturday brewery tours and food in the Taproom.

  • Paul Bunyan’s Animal Land - Located on Hwy 2 East, between Bemidji & Cass Lake, Animal Land is home to nearly 100 animals representing every continent on earth

  • Watermark Art Center – Hosting the longstanding lakeside Art in the Park Event in July, the Watermark Art Center (WAC) is a non-profit organization displaying national, regional, and local artists in group exhibits, solo shows, and installations.

  • Bemidji Bowl - Bowling Alley and Arcade, with Pub and activities

  • Paul Bunyan and Babe Blue Ox Statues - Paul Bunyan Park, this roadside attraction has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1988. Playground onsite for little ones.

  • Ceramics -  Glazed & Amused is a contemporary ceramics studio where all ages can enjoy the relaxing activity of painting your own ceramic pieces.

  • Palace Casino – A Minnesota casino featuring over 500 slot machines, Bingo, poker, and black jack.

  • Forestedge Winery – Features art, food, live music and wine. Approximately 25 miles south of Bemidji

  • Headwaters Science Center – Demonstrations and workshops for science and environmental awareness. Interactive activities for children.

  • Paul Bunyan Playhouse – Highly acclaimed community theater producing 5 professional productions each summer, all performed in The Chief Theater in downtown Bemidji.
